Ben Prideaux, youngest son of Thomas and Ellen Hudson Prideaux, was born March 18, 1884, at Bloomington, Wis., and died at the Reimer nursing home at Elkader on October 23, 1957, following a lingering illness.

When he was one year old, he came to Iowa with is parents, who homesteaded in Putman township in Fayette county. He attended the Arlington public school and Upper Iowa university.

In 1908, he was united in marriage to Orah Masters of Maynard. To this union were born seven children. His entire life was spent farming, until he moved to Volga in 1948.

He is survived by his wife and seven children: Mrs. Homer (Letha) Bunn, Maynard; Mrs. Harold (Gladys) Ward, Strawberry Point; Steve Prideaux, Rochelle, Ill.; Mrs. Francis (Mary) Foster, Marion, Ohio; Mrs. G. W. (Margaret) Crandall, Volga; Mrs. F. C. (Doris) O'Donnell, Strawberry Point, and Thomas Prideaux, Cedar Rapids; twenty-two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Doughty, Oelwein Mrs. Blanche Turner, Arlington, and one brother, Harley Prideaux of Westgate.

Services were held Friday from the Blake and Gill chapel to the Presbyterian church with the Rev. Calvin Williamson officiating.

Casket bearers were: Lawrence Richards, Lawrence Newton, Paul Crandall, Ralph Sargent, Owen Radloff and Clair Dillon.

Music was provided by Mrs. James Whitford, organist, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Whitford, vocalists. Flower bearers were Mrs. Ted Leete and Mrs. Owen Radloff.

Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.

Among the relatives and friends from out of town, who were present at the final service were: Mr. and Mrs. Grant Prideaux, Madison, Wis.; Mrs. Bessie Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Knapp, Bloomington, Wis.; John Doughty, Svcamore, Ill.; Mrs. Blanche Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cordes, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Masters, Alfred Turner, Arlington; Mr. and Mrs. Ward Masters, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bunn, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bunn, David Bunn, Maynard; Mrs. Clara Doughty, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Doughty, Oelwein; Mr. and Mrs. Merwin Doughty, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Turner, Fayette; Donald Doughty, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. James Coble, Davenport; Mrs. Viola Gardiner, James Prideaux, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Prideaux, Sumner; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Prideaux, Westgate; Mrs. Ruby Rodgers, Arlington, and Mrs. Francis O'Donnell, Colo, Iowa.
