Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 28, 1957, at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elkader at 9:30 a.m., for Margaret Minihan, 82, who died at her home in Elkader Saturday, Oct. 26, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Daniel A. Gorman officiating.
Burial was at St. Joseph's cemetery. Pallbearers were: Patrick Minnihan, Joseph Leahy, Joe Hurley, Dan Barton, Wm. Orr and Raphael Orr.
Miss Minihan was born on a farm in Clayton county, Iowa, on July 27, 1875.
She chose teaching as her vocation and attended Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls; Teachers college, Winona, Minn.; State Teachers college, Platteville, Wis., and Loras college, Dubuque.
Miss Minihan taught in the schools of Clayton, Delaware and Fayette counties until 1933, when she retired. Since that time she and her sister, Johanna, have made their home together at Elkader.
She is survived by one sister, Johanna Minihan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Mary Gaynor Minihan, two brothers, Thomas, who died in infancy, and Patrick, who died in 1933, and three sisters, Anna, who died in 1929, Mrs. Kate Bergan, who died in 1940, and Mary, who died in 1944.
