Clayton County Register, Thursday, July 25, 1957
Funeral services were held Monday, July 22, for Albert J. Tschirgi at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Elkader, with Father Cletus Hawes of Dubuque officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jack Donlon, Harry Hubbard, Thomas Bergan, Dale Klingman, Earl Sterling and Henry Behn.

Albert J. Tschirgi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gottleib Tschirgi, was born Sept. 4, 1899, at Guttenberg, and died at his home near Elkader, July 18, 1957. He had been ill since February.

On June 19, 1929, he was united in marriage to Pearl Peuker at Garber. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Guttenberg for several years and the past 25 years had made their home near Elkader.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, Elkader, and the Holy Name society of that church.

Mr. Tschirgi was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and an infant son.

He is survived by his wife and four sons, Verdeen; Janarious and Clair at home, and Karl of Elkader; one brother, Frank Tschirgi, Menasha, Wis.; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Moreland, Guttenberg.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Frank Tschirgi and family, Menasha, Wis.; Mrs. Mary Moreland and son Frank, Guttenberg; Mr. and Mrs. John Moreland, Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Klien, Tiffin; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Moreland, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Neal Neicker, Dyersville; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Peuker and family, Edgewood; Mr. and Mrs. Charley Peuker Sr., Garber; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peuker, Farmersburg; Mr. and Mrs. August Kozebietke, Mr. and Mrs. John Pohlman, New Albin; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bradfield, Mrs. Cora Seiling, Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Voigts, Waverly; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eglseder and Mrs. Paul Rantzow, Garnavillo.
