Charles D. Meyer, son of Nicholas and Celia Judy Meyer, was born November 25, 1878, Clayton county, Iowa, and died suddenly Sept. 12, 1957, at Elkader.
Mr. Meyer received his education at St. Joseph's school and spent his entire life in Elkader.
On Sept. 08, 1904, he was united in marriage to Amelia Stendel at Elkader.
Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Mabel, who died in infancy.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Winch, Elkader; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Harry (Josie) LaVoice, Temple City, Calif.; two brothers, Bernard Meyer, Temple City, Calif., and George Meyer, Elkader.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1957, at St. Joseph's church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Daniel A. Gorman officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Matt Feeney, L. C. Lenth, Reynold Hedeman, Frank Wacker, Ralph Possehl, and Ted Downey.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Leo Meyer and family, Mason City; Mrs. Wm. Meyer and Dorothy, McKeesport, Pa.; Mrs. Donald Gonzales, Griffith, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. Harry LaVoice, Temple City, Calif.
