WILLIAM HAROLD BERGAN.
Services for Harold Bergan, 45, were held Saturday, at the Witt funeral home in Elkader at 9 o'clock and at St. Joseph's church at 9:30 a.m.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Daniel A. Gorman, pastor, was celebrant of the Requiem high mass. Burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery in Volga.
Casket bearers were Michael Roach, Bernard Bergan, Michael Bergan, Elkader; Nolan Knight, Kenneth Bergan, Strawberry Point; and Paul Rhines, Cedar Falls.
William Harold Bergan, son of Thomas and Julia Shea Bergan, was born February 17, 1912, at Volga, and died Tuesday, September 17, 1957, at Elkader, at the age of forty-five years and seven months. He attended the Volga schools.
In 1934, he was married to Thelma Carmichael of Fayette. They were the parents of seven children, all of whom survive: Mrs. Howard (Lorna) Landas, Fayette; Mrs. Wm. (Elaine) Pfeiffer, Limestone, Maine; Mrs. Louis (Lois) Bishop, Cedar Falls; William, Mary, Betty, and Donald, all at home in Cedar Falls; also seven grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Julia Bergan, Strawberry Point; two brothers, Leo, Strawberry Point; Thomas, Elkader, and one sister, Mae Bergan, Elkader.
His father preceded him in death in 1938, and a brother, John in 1941.
The Rev. Martin Laughlin, assistant pastor at Elkader, officiated at the graveside.
