Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Marie Glesne, 84, were held Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18, from Peace E. and R. church at 2 o'clock. Burial was in the East Side cemetery. The Rev. Robert Jacobs, pastor, officiated.
Mrs. Glesne died early Sunday morning, Sept. 15, following a few days illness.
A daughter of Christian and Wilhelmina Boetcher, she was born in Cox Creek township Jan. 05, 1873. Early in life she moved to Elkader, where she made her home for the past 70 years.
She was married to Riley O. Glesne in Elkader. Her husband was engaged in the mercantile business, in the Glesne Bros. firm, from 1891 until the time of his death in 1909.
A graduate of the rural schools, Mrs. Glesne was a member of the Service Star Legion. She also was a charter member of the Women's Guild of the E. and R. church.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Milda Roggensack, Raymond O., and Melvin H. Glesne, all of Elkader, and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Pratt of Minneapolis. There are 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One daughter, Lulu Grace, died in 1910.
