Mrs. Mary Caroline Meyer the daughter of August and Anna Hohman, was born April 27, 1879, at Elkport, and died Sept. 05, 1957, at the Samaritan home, Elkader, at the age of 78 years, five months and eight days.
Mrs. Meyer spent her childhood at Elkport, and her entire life in Clayton county, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Meyer at Dubuque on June 20, 1900.
Mrs. Meyer was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, Elkader.
Her health began to fail about two years ago, but she was only confined to bed for about a week before her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband in May of 1952.
She is survived by two daughters, Mildred Meyer of Dubuque, and Mrs. M. E. (Marcella) Koppenhaver of Elkader; two grandchildren; one brother, August of Guttenberg, and one sister, Mrs. Henry (Matilda) Fritz of Garber.
Funeral services were held at the Witt chapel Saturday, Sept. 07, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was at the St. Joseph's cemetery.
