Funeral services for Mrs. Eli Sheppard, 81, were held Tuesday, August 27, at 2 o'clock at the Schultz funeral home at Monona. The Rev. R. C. Schlueter officiated. Burial was in the U. B. cemetery.
Mrs. Sheppard, the former Sadie White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward White was born August 01, 1876, at Farmersburg, and died August 23, at Mesa, Arizona, after an attack of pneumonia.
She was educated in the Farmersburg schools and on Oct. 12, 1898, was married to Eli Sheppard. They lived on a farm south of Luana until Mr. Sheppard's death in 1945. Mrs. Sheppard moved to Elkader, where she resided until three years ago. Since that time she has lived in Arizona with her granddaughter, Margaret Crane.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, two sons, Leigh and Merle, three sisters, Mrs. Charles Mentzer, Mrs. Walter Leviness, and Mrs. Henry Krambeer, and one brother, Ed White.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Grace Kamaus, West Union; one son, Lyle, Gladstone, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. W. E. Turner, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Charles Cummings, Rawlins, Wyo.; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Music at the services was provided by Miss Sandra Schultz, soloist. Mrs. George Heins Jr. was the accompanist.
Pallbearers were: Eldon Kurth, Glen Kurth, Vernis Henkes, James Mathews, George Erbe and H. A. Oelke.
