Mary Wilhelmina Meyer, the daughter of William and Maria Lindeman was born at Mederville, Iowa, on September 30, 1876, and died at the Samaritan home in Elkader on August 30, 1957, at the age of 80 years and 11 months.

Mrs. Meyer spent her entire life in Clayton county, Iowa, with the exception of a several years she spent with her parents in Nebraska and four years as a young lady in Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Meyer was baptized in the Zion Lutheran church at Clayton Center and confirmed in a Luteran church while living in Nebraska. On July 25, 1900, she was united in marriage to Herman Meyer at Elkader by the Rev. Mr. Brown. Mrs. Meyer lived on a farm in Cox Creek township, one mile north of Osborne, for fifty years. Her husband died in 1917. For 32 years she remained on the farm and operated it until all eight of her children were grown and married. In 1950 she bought herself a home in Strawberry Point where she lived until a few months ago when illness forced her children to put her in the Samaritan home.

Mrs. Meyer was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church for many years. All her children were baptized and confirmed in this church.

She is survived by her eight children: Lenora, Mrs. Olin Fitkin, Atchison, Kan.; Christine, Mrs. Emil Hoth, Elkader; Arthur A. and Joseph H. Meyer, Kanawha; Herman C. Meyer, Garner; Carl H. Meyer, St. Olaf; Allen A. Meyer, Alta Vista and Mary, Mrs. Dail Thein of Evansdale, Iowa.

One brother, Wm. F. Lindemann, McGregor, two sisters, Doris, Mrs. John Rodenberg, Guttenberg, and Emma, Mrs. Carl Carlson, McGregor; also 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 02, 2 p.m. at Peace Evangelical and Reformed church. Burial was at East Side cemetery with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating.

Pallbearers were Miles Scott, George Behn, Ben Casey, George Hubbard, Milton Klink and Wm. Muench.
