Funeral services for Alex Moser, 83, were held at the Methodist church in Strawberry Point on Monday afternoon with the Rev. Murlin Hansel of Edgewood conducting the services. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery. Mr. Moser died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harold Hamlin, at Oelwein, following a long illness.
Alex Moser was born at Osterdock, Iowa, on June 02, 1874, the son of Jacob and Mary Grimm Moser. On February 20, 1901, he was married to Ethel Coon at Colesburg, and the couple farmed in Clayton and Delaware counties until their retirement. Mr. Moser was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Guttenberg, and had a rural school education.
Survivors include four sons and five daughters and one brother, John Moser of Strawberry Point. The sons are Joy of Edgewood; Martin of Manchester; Donald of Salem, Oregon; and Howard of Edgewood. The daughters are Ruth Moser Vierow of Dubuque; Ruby Moser Baker and Miriam Moser Hamlin of Oelwein; Agneta Moser Feller of Strawberry Point, and Lela Moser Hartman of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, one grandson, four brothers and three sisters.
