Funeral services for Mrs. Edgar Borrett, 84, were held at the Rhines funeral home in Edgewood at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, July 01. Burial was in the Hansel cemetery near Garber. The Rev. Merlin Hansel of the Edgewood Congregational church Officiated. Mrs. Lloyd Wessel of Elkport sang "Whispering Hope" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied at the piano by Miss Jennie Forward of Edgewood.
Mrs. Borrett died Friday, June 28, at the Manchester hospital after a long illness. She had suffered several strokes during the past year.
Genie Baker Borrett, oldest daughter of Samuel and Clara Bevans Baker, was born Oct. 02, 1872, near Updegraff. Early in life she was baptized and united with the Methodist church. On Dec. 28, 1898, she was married to Edgar Borrett by the Rev. Strother Hansel. To this union were born twin sons, Harold and Howard, and two daughters, Lorita and Nina.
The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Garber in 1948.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Borrett is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Lorita) Palmer and Mrs. George (Nina) Amling, both of Garber; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Glen Ridenour, Garber, Mrs. Lettie Jenks, Edgewood, and Mrs. Hazel Harbaugh, Guttenberg, and one brother, Charles Baker of Strawberry Point.
Preceding her in death her were her parents, her twin sons, three sisters, three brothers and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were six grandsons, Cletus and Linus Amling and Roger, Ronald, Duane and Lowell Palmer. Loras Palmer was an honorary pallbearer.
