John Baade, son of Joseph and Dorothea (Nee) Freiman Baade, was born Dec. 20, 1873, in Wagner township, Clayton county, Iowa, and died April 20, 1957, from complications of old age. He had been ill since Christmas, 1956.
Mr. Baade was married to Alvina Drallmeier on July 29, 1908.
Mr. Baade learned the carpenter trade as a young man and continued with his trade until 1925, when he purchased a small farm west of Farmersburg, where he lived until 1945, when he went to live with his son, Merrill of Luana.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran church of Farmersburg.
Mr. Baade was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by one son, Merrill, of Luana, and four grandchildren, Donald, Anita, Lester and Verla Baade, Luana, and one great-grandchild, Michelle Baade.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 23, 1957, at 1:30 p.m., from the Schultz funeral home to the St. John Lutheran church in Farmersburg at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. L. W. Reuther of Luana, and the Rev. R. H. Steege of Farmersburg officiating.
Burial was in the Farmersburg-Wagner cemetery.
