Funeral services for Mrs. John Burrack Sr., 64, were held at Emanuel Lutheran church in Strawberry Point on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 13, with the Rev. S. J. Meyer officiating. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Mrs. Burrack had apparently been in her usual good health on Sunday afternoon when her husband left about four o'clock to go to Chicago with a load of cattle. Later in the evening she complained of not feeling well and a doctor was called. He suggested that she should be taken to a Manchester hospital but she died in the ambulance before arriving there. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
Katherine Rosemary Newton was born on May 01, 1892, the daughter of Joseph and Caroline Holub Newton, at Prairieburg, Iowa. On September 08, 1936, She was married to John Burrack Sr., at Humboldt, Iowa, and they have lived in Strawberry Point since that time. She was a lover of flowers and enjoyed a hobby of collecting china shoes and swans.
Mrs. Burrack is survived by her husband; three children by a former marriage, Vera Nodurft and George Fousek both of Strawberry Point and Clare Fousek of Oelwein: two step-sons, Alvin Burrack of Aurora and Roland Burrack of Arlington; a step--daughter, Lucille Satterthwaite of Hazel Crest, Ill.; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. There are also five surviving brothers and seven sisters. They include John Newton, Manchester; William Newton, Dubuque; George Newton, Portage, Wis.; Harry Newton, Britt; Leo Newton, Indian Orchard, Mass.; Mary Darrah, Littleport; Anna Brundig, St. Paul, Minn.; Sylvia Linderwell, Lamont; Eleanore Berry, Saugus, Mass.; Vera Tauke, Dubuque; Helen Herzman, Arlington, and Carrie Yonda of Dundee. She was preceded in death by her first husband and two brothers.
