Halvor O. Thompson was born Aug. 28, 1877, to Ole and Liv Borgstrand Thompson. He died Feb. 07, 1957, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 10 days. He was baptized by the Rev. Waldeland and confirmed by the Rev. Gjersta at the Marion Lutheran church.
His entire life was spent in Clayton county. He is the last of a family of six children. His sister, Gunild, Mrs. Ed P. Larson, died Sept. 09, 1940, a brother, Stener, in 1949.
He leaves two nephews, Orvald Larson of Elkader and Elmer Larson of Belvidere Ill.; two nieces Cora Larson Allen of Toronto, Canada, and Lena Thompson of Eagle Grove; and a cousin, Thore Thompson of Elgin.
Mr. Thompson made his home with the Orvald Larson family for the last 13 years. He was in his usual health until the morning of Feb. 07, when he suffered a stroke. He was taken to the hospital in McGregor where he died that afternoon.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Highland Lutheran church, of which he was a charter member, with the Rev. Stanley Knudsen of Clermont officiating. Songs were sung by Donald Larson.
Pallbearers were Harry Hanson, Glen Larson, Alfred Kramer, Harold Larson, Edward Kuehl and Ray Halverson.
