M.L. Mason was born in the state of Ohio in 1829. In the year 1860 he came west and settled in Iowa of which state he has since been a resident.
He was married in 1861 to Elmyra Wadsworth. Three children were born to this union, D.F. Mason of Coeuer-d-Alene Idaho; A.L. Mason and Mrs. Belle Mason Reitsma of Minneapolis, Minn.
The aged wife and three children survive him to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent husband and father.
The funeral was held from the family residence on Sunday at 2 o'clock. A large assembly of friends met to pay their last respects to Mr. Mason, the floral offerings were many. Rev. V.E. Hall conducted the services assisted by members of the M.E. .church choir who rendered some very beautiful hymns. Rev. Hall's remarks were especially well chosen and conveyed much cheer and consolation to the hearts of the bereaved family.
Mr. Mason was a kind friend and good neighbor and will be missed by a large circle of acquaintance. The interment was in Oakland cemetery.
