DIED - At McGregor, January 2, 1862, Marshall, son of M.D. and M.A. Mason, in the 15th year of his age.
The youth, whose death we chronicle, was sick but a short time. He had the closest attention which attached relatives and a large list of friends could give; the best medical attendance of the city was put in requisition, but all human effort was unavailing.
Marsh was a good boy; manly in behavior kind to his young mates, respectful to his seniors, he was a favorite with all who knew him. The little fellows on the street looked cheerful when it was told them that "Marshall is better," or sad if he was worse, and when his death was announced they looked as melancholy as though they had lost a brother.
Let us all so live that when Death calls for us we may be entitled to a like expression of regard from those who knew us best.
The funeral discourse was preached on Sunday evening, January 5th, by Rev. Mr. Whitman of the First Baptist church.
