Dina M. Meenan, daughter of Otto and Annette Muench Gusta, was born Oct. 17, 1901, on a farm near Littleport and died at her farm home seven miles southeast of Elkader on Jan. 12, 1957, at the age of 55 years, two months and 15 days.
She had been in failing health since November, 1955. She underwent surgery at Rochester, Minn., where it was discovered she had an incurable disease. She accepted her fate in the Christian spirit.
Dina was married to George Meenan of Motor, on Nov. 30, 1921, at Elkader by the Rev. C. H. Franke, pastor of the Peace Evangelical and reformed church.
Mr. and Mrs. Meehan lived on a farm in Read township since her marriage.
She was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed working with her husband on the farm and spent much time with her flowers.
She was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church and had served as secretary of the Motor school for ten years.
One daughter, Bernice Georgina, preceded her mother in death on Sept. 07, 1929.
She is survived by her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gusta, Elkader; and the following brothers and sisters; Realto Gusta, Davenport; Elmer Gusta, Strawberry Point; Leona, Mrs. Elmer Gottschalk, Elkader; Evelyn, Mrs. Reuben Glawe, St. Olaf; and Alfred Gusta, Cedar Rapids; also four nieces and seven nephews.
Services were held at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, Elkader, with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carlton Schantz, Helmuth Latteyer, Edwin Walz, Melvin Glesne, Richard Fassbinder, and Tom Walch.
