Frederick John Keeling, youngest son of John and Mary Keeling, was born on the old Keeling farm west of Volga on August 30, 1863. He grew to manhood on the farm and took over operation of the farm upon the death of his father. On December 25th, 1885, he was united in marriage to Margaret Robinson. Shortly after the death of his wife, Margaret, on December __, 1914, he retired from the farm and moved to town. On January 04, 1917, he was united in marriage to Ermmie Kronk, who now survives him. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, George and Arthur, and his two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Smith and Mrs. Wilbur Whitford.
Mr. Keeling was an active member of the Presbyterian church, in which organization he held the office of elder for over 42 years. He was also a charter member of the Volga Cemetery association and was an officer in the first board of directors.
He is survived by his widow and a large number of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the Volga Presbyterian church, Sunday, Oct. 19, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Russell Nelson. The Rev. Clarence Randall of Wisconsin gave the sermon. Three solos were sung by Mrs. Russell Nelson: "When the Roll is Called," "The City Four Square," and "The Way of the Cross Leads Home," accompanied by Mrs. Robert Duff. Pallbearers were elders and trustees of the church: Walter Roys, Melvin Gregerson, Albert Duff, Robert Duff, Oaklin Probert and Albert Parker. Burial was made in the Hillcrest cemetery.
