Clayton County Register, 22 Oct. 1941.
Clayton county officials Tuesday termed the death of Mrs. Joe Kasper, 45-year-old Guttenberg housewife, due to accidental drowning.
The woman's body was found late Monday afternoon in Pussy Lake, about two miles north of Guttenberg, by her father, F. N. Friedlein, and her brother-in-law, Merrill Abel, who operate a number of cabins at the lake.
Mrs. Kasper went fishing alone during the afternoon and her father and brother-in-law discovered the body in the lake as they started back to Guttenberg.
Coroner D. E. Lowe and Sheriff E. W. Carlsen said they believed the woman had suffered a heart attack while she was standing near the edge of the lake and that she fell into the water.
Mrs. Kasper was the former Hilda Friedlein and she was born here Sept. 03, 1896. She received her education in the local public schools and at a business college. On Dec. 04, 1928 she married Mr. Kasper at Waterloo.
Surviving are her parents; her husband; and three sisters, Mrs. Effie Kimball and Mrs. Irene Abel, both of Guttenberg and Mrs. Florence Hostetler of Waterloo.
Mrs. Kasper was a member of the Eastern Star lodge.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family home.
