Fritz, Augusta (Waterman) 1862 - 1941

ELPORT: Mrs. Ludwig Fritz died at 1:40 o'clock August 22 at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Jaster. She lived to be 78 years, 11 months and 11 days old.

Mrs. Fritz, the daughter of Frederick and Minnie Waterman was born Sept. 10, 1862 in Volga township, Clayton County, Iowa.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Evangelical church in Elkport. At the age of 20 she was united in marriage to Ludwig Fritz, Sept. 28, 1882. This union was blessed with nine children, of whom five survive.

They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sept. 29, 1932, and made their home in Volga township all during their wedded life.

Mr. Fritz died Jan. 14, 1940, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Jaster. Since then Mrs. Fritz had made her home with them.

She was held in the highest esteem in the entire community in which she lived her entire life.

On April 19, 1941, she was stricken with pneumonia and a heart ailment. From then on she was ailing.

She leaves to mourn her death her five children: Louie W. Fritz and Mrs. Wilhelmina Jaster of Elkport, Henry Fritz of Littleport, Mrs. Goldamae Noggle, Garber, and Mrs. Ida Shaw, Edgewood; one sister, Mrs. Emma Willie, Elkport; three brothers, William Waterman, Littleport, Chas. Waterman, Elkport, and John Waterman, Forman, N.D. Also 32 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends

Those who preceded her in death were her husband and four children; Augusta Fritz, Mrs. Etta Fishel, Mrs. Hulda Mierson, and one son, Elmer, who died in infancy.

Funeral services were held at the home by Rev. Becker Sunday afternoon, Aug. 24th, at 2 o'clock. "In the Garden" and "Going Down the Valley" were sung by Mrs. Arnold Zittergruen and Mrs. Maloy Zittergruen, accompanied by Mrs. Clem Moser.

Pallbearers were six of her grandsons, LaVern and Marvin Jaster, Louis Noggle, Lloyd Shaw, Burdette Fritz, and John Mierson

Interment was made in the Union cemetery near Littleport.
