MRS.MICHAEL CAIN

Funeral services were held last Monday, Sept. 01, at the St. Joseph's church here for Mrs. Michael Cain and burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiating.

Casketbearers were six nephews: Arthur Connors, Arthur Miller, Dr. Merle Miller, Henry Connors, Francis Losch and James Neylon.

Mrs. Cain had died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Ehrhardt, here in Elkader after an illness of two months.

She was born in this county on July 05th, 1865, one of thirteen children and this county has always been her home.

Fifty-seven years ago she was united in marriage with Michael Cain here in Elkader. He preceded her in death 50 years ago. Two children were born to this union - Mrs. Edward Ehrhardt and James Cain, both of whom survive as do four grandchildren, namely, Michael, Geraldine, Marguerite and Rose Ehrhardt as do, also, two brothers, Dave and Henry Losch, and two sisters, Mrs. Peter Miller and Miss Mary Losch, all of Elkader.

All of Mrs. Cain's life was spent on a farm near Elkader - most of the time with her son James on Primary 56, west of town.

She was a member of St. Joseph's church and of the Lady Foresters.

Relatives from a distance who attended the services included: Prv. Michael Ehrhardt of Ft. Lewis, Wash., Major Curtis of Ft. Snelling, Minn., Mrs. Al Roader, Minneapolis, Mrs. Russell Bruce and son Gary of Peoria, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Hy. Connors, Clermont, Dr. Merle Miller, Ossian; Nick Miller, McGregor; Mrs. Herb. Massuen, Garnavillo; Julia Connors, Oelwein; Mr. and Mrs. James Neylan, Oelwein; Emmett Liddy, Littleport; Jeanne Altwegg, Mt. Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Pike, Chicago; Mar Kathrn Doyle, Des Moines.
