Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 14th, at the Witt funeral chapel for John E. Marxer and burial was made in the Communia cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating. Casketbearers were Ferdinand Meenan, Helmuth Latteyer, George Tieden, Henry Klink, Henry Baars and Joe Cords.
John E. Marxer, a life-long resident of Communia, Volga township, was born on the farm where he died. He was born November 29, 1858, and died August 12th at the age of 82 years, eight months and 13 days.
The deceased was a member of the Modern Woodman of America.
His death is mourned by two sisters, Miss Annie Marxer at home, and Mrs. Mayer of Indianapolis, Ind. Other relatives are: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kohlman and Mrs. E. W. Wiedmann, all of Dubuque, also Geo. Kohlman and family of Postville.
