Daniel Irving Dunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. James S. Dunn, formerly of this place, but now of New Hampton, died suddenly of a heart attack at his apartment in the Webster Hotel in Chicago on Friday, July 25. He was forty-six years old.

The remains were brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. D. J. Raftis, at Oelwein, where the funeral was held on Monday morning at Sacred Heart church, Rev. Father O'Hagen officiating, and burial was made in the family lot in St. Joseph's cemetery here. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiated at the grave side.

Irving was born on the farm here on November 01, 1896, the youngest of a family of seven children. He attended the rural school and completed his elementary education in the public schools of Elkader. He attended St. Joseph's academy, now Loras College, and later attended Bayless Business College.

On completion of his business course he entered the employ of the J. F. Stampfer company in the credit department. He remained there for four years and then entered the University of Chicago.

For fifteen years he was vice-president of the Real Estate department of the People's Trust and Savings Bank, Chicago.

He then founded the Real Estate and Mortgage Investment Company of Chicago, of which he was owner.

He is survived by his aged parents, two brothers, Peter, of New Orleans, La., and T. R. of Chicago, three sisters, Mrs. J. T. Lillis and Mrs. D. J. Raftis, Oelwein, and Mrs. H. J. Friend of New Hampton. One niece, Mary Margaret Raftis, two nephews, Daniel J. Raftis, Jr., and Irving Raftis, Oelwein.
