This entire community was shocked and saddened last Saturday when the report was given out that John Nading had died at his home Friday evening. He had been on the streets the day before and had greeted his friends as usual. He had been ailing since last fall.
John Nading was one of those likeable men and had a mind of his own. He always joined, cheerfully in community enterprises and gave his time liberally. He was always interested in the town.
The town and community lose much by his death.
John Edward Nading, son of William and Corinthia Nading, was born in Cox Creek township, this county, February 20, 1882 and died at his home in Littleport on June 13, 1941, at te age of 59 years, three months and 24 days.
When a young lad his folks lived on a farm near Littleport where he spent his boyhood days. He was married to Minnie Schuldt on December 25, 1907.
Mr. Nading was a good husband and a kind neighbor and friend, always ready to help in time of need. He was a man of upright character honest and trusted by all.
He leaves to mourn his death his widow, Mrs. Minnie Nading, one daughter, Mrs. Irma Kuehl, four grandchildren, Mardelle, Lawrence, Dale and Douglas Kuehl, all of Littleport; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Bushaw of Edgewood and Mrs. Ruby Stone of Cedar Rapids; six brothers, Harrison, Floris, Merrit and Forrest of Littleport, James of Edgewood and Jasper of Mederville besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the Hope Lutheran church with the Rev. Paul Kenyon officiating. Burial was made in the Union cemetery, Monday afternoon.
Pall bearers were Kenneth Bassett, A. L. Shaw, Donald Liddy, H. H. Liddy, Virgil Meese and Earl Pust.
