MCGREGOR: Funeral services for Fred Jenson, who was drowned in the Mississippi river Friday, were held at St. Paul's Evangelical church Monday afternoon, Rev. L. G. Schember, officiating. Fred Jensen, 14 years old, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jenson, who live on a farm on Evergreen Hill, just south of town. He was the oldest of five children. Last Friday he and George Meana, 15, rode on their bicycles down the road along the river about one half mile to a beach near the ice house. Meana was having trouble with his bicycle, so went to a nearby house to get some tool to repair it. When he came back Jenson was missing and his bicycle and clothes were on the bank. When Meana could not find him, he rode back to town to give the alarm. The firemen responded to the siren and a long search began. The body was not found until about ten o'clock Saturday morning. The river is high and was very rough Friday as was a strong wind blowing. The body was found quite a distance from where he had gone swimming. The two boys were all alone and the place is secluded and not visible from the road.
