Funeral services for Albert Matt were held at the St. Mary's Catholic church Friday morning conducted by the Rev. Father P. J. Boyle. Burial was made in the St. Joseph's cemetery at Garnavillo.
He was born in Volga township on April 12, 1877 and died Tuesday at his home on East Mission street after lingering illness. He was married to Wilhelmina Meyer in Garnavillo in 1900. To this union were born seven children, one daughter dying in infancy. Mrs. Matt died July 10th, 1937. On June 26, 1940, he was married to Miss Harriet Whittle in Strawberry Point where the home has been made since. He is survived by his wife and six children: Mrs. A. H. (Viola) Berns of West Union; Mrs. Henry (Marie) Berns of Guttenberg; Mrs. Reynold (Bernice) Scheffert, Earl and Lloyd at home, and Arthur of Elgin; also twelve grandchildren, and one brother and four sisters; Alex of Guttenberg; Mrs. Josephine Ovel of Lamont; Mrs. Clara Howe of Chicago; Mrs. Matilda Fassbinder of Guttenberg; and Mrs. Joe Zaph of Garnavillo.
