Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Howard, 84, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hazel Frazier, in Los Angeles, were held Thursday afternoon from the Schultz funeral parlors. The Rev. Phillip Gregory of the First Congregational church of Minneapolis officiated.
Burial was made in the city cemetery beside her husband. The pallbearers were William B. Wiethorn, Frank R. Bothel, Harley S. Rittenhouse, Patrick J. English, Charles Haberichter, William C. Kruse, Dr. G. W. Tapper and Dr. A. L. Currie.
Mrs. Howard was born at National on November 20, 1856, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Cortis. When fifteen years old she moved with her parents to Hardin where she lived until her marriage to Frank H. Howard on April 16, 1878. They lived in Monona. Mr. Howard's death occurred in 1934. Mrs. Howard made her home in Minneapolis with her daughter until last fall when they moved to Los Angeles. Last February Mrs. Howard suffered a fractured hip and died the result of the fall. Mrs. Howard was a charter member of the local Eastern Star lodge who attended her funeral in a body. Surviving her are one sister, Mrs. Addie M. Egbert of Monona, one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Frazier of Minneapolis, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
