Clayton County Register, 07 May 1941.

Funeral services are tentatively set for Tuesday for John Bergan, 33, who died Sunday at the home of his brother, Thomas Bergan near Elkader. He had been in failing health for a number of years.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Tom Bergan, one sister Mae and three brothers; Thomas and Harold of Elkader and Leo of Volga City, also several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Volga City.
