Funeral services for Earl D. Hamlett were held at the Methodist church last week Tuesday afternoon conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Glenn S. Hartong. Music was furnished by Mrs. Bert W. Talcott and Mrs. Kenneth Esch sang and Eldon Stafford a solo with Miss Janice Luse at the piano. The pallbearers were his three brothers and brother-in-laws Vincenut Hamlett, Dave Hamlett, Henry Hamlett, Harold D. Campbell, Clyde Miersen and Earl Kenneally. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

As a son of Freeling and Martha Hamlett he was born at Mills, Nebraska on January 10, 1900 and died at Sunny Crest sanitarium Dubuque, Saturday, after many months of suffering. When eight years of age he came with his parents to Iowa who for three years lived near Elkport and then the family moved to Strawberry Point to a farm northeast of town. In 1921, Earl went to Estherville where he was employed by Gamble Robinson and Co. for ten years after which he returned here and was in charge of incubation and flock selection with Campbell Hatcheries for five years. Since that time he was engaged in farming the home place of his parents. He was married to Mildred Nandell of Manchester on July 31, 1934. In January 1939 he went to Sunny Crest Sanitarium where he remained for six months and later returned where he remained for ten months. Two weeks ago he suffered a relapse and returned to the Sunny Crest Sanitarium but the fatal disease, tuberculosis, had run its course and nothing could be done. Besides his wife and two daughters, Beverly and Earlene, he is survived by his parents and three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Harold (Blanche) Campbell, Mrs. Earl (Gladys) Kenneally, Mrs. Clyde (Bernice) Miesen and Dave Hamlett all of Strawberry Point, Vincent Hamlett of Aurora and Henry Hamlett of Elkader.
