Mrs. John (Zipporah) Duff was born in Cashton, Wis., on May 30, 1880, the daughter of William and Christina Rosenow. After completing her schooling in Wisconsin she taught in that state and South Dakota.
On June 16, 1909, she was united in marriage to John Duff at her home at Cashton, Wis. Following the marriage the couple went to Volga where they established their home on a farm four miles northwest of the village.
Six children were born. Three have preceded the mother in death. After several months of illness Mrs. Duff died at her home on the evening of Thursday, April 24, 1941, at the age of 60 years, 10 months and 24 days. Besides her husband there remain three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Prescott of Buffalo, Minn. Janet Duff of Tama, and Maxine of Volga; also two grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. William Boettcher of Torrance, Cal., and Mrs. Frank Taubman of Shell Lake, Wis. Many other relatives and friends in this community unite with the family in this hour of sorrow.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 27, in the Volga Presbyterian church, in charge of the Rev. Russell Nelson. Mr. Ronald Prescott sang the solo entitled "Sunrise Tomorrow." Burial was made in the Hillcrest cemetery, Volga City.
Pallbearers were Allen Longmuir, George Thompson, W. E. Ewing, W. R. Smith, W. V. Probert and Lynn Probert. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Orr, Fred Ensign, John Probert and J. C. Probert.
