Anna Maria, daughter of Charlotte and John Jansen, was born September 04, 1862, in Dubuque, Iowa. On October 12 she was baptized in St. John's church where sometime later she was confirmed. On May 03, 1887, she was united in marriage to Henry Hafner. This union was blessed with two children. On March 09, 1900 they moved to Elkport where they spent the remainder of their days.
Mr. Hafner died April 01, 1941, and Mrs. Hafner joined him in death April 18, after a lingering illness, at the age of 78 years, seven months and 14 days. She is survived by her daughter, Lottie, Mrs. C. P. Krieg and son Robert, both of Elkport, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, also five sisters, Mrs. Ida Wohlert of Duluth, Minn., Mrs. Margaret Groppe of Davenport, Mrs. Cora Eischman, Mrs. Minnie Zogg, and Mrs. Bertha Lange, all of Dubuque.
Funeral services were held at the Elkport Lutheran church Sunday at 1:30 p.m., and burial was made in the Mt. Harmony cemetery.
