Clayton County Register, 05 Mar. 1941.

Mrs. Dora Caroline Mueller, nee Menge, died Sunday evening, March 02 at 7:40 at the Oren Adams home near Strawberry Point, Ia., at the age of 85 years and 08 days. She had been in poor health for over a year. Her death was the result of complications coincident with her advanced age.

Mrs. Mueller was born in Guttenberg, Ia., to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Menge, on Feb. 22, 1855. Here she spent the early years of her life. Soon after her marriage she moved to Kansas with her husband, where the family lived for 20 years. After this the family returned to Clayton county, where Mrs. Mueller has lived since that time. For the past 14 years she has resided in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Oren Adams.

The deceased was married to Wm. Ernst Mueller, who preceded her in death about 40 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Mueller were blessed with 8 children, 5 of whom preceded their mother in death. Two of them, Ida and Louise, died in infancy. Others were: Charles Mueller of Guttenberg; Mrs. Mary Adams of Volga City, and Mrs. Emma Lee of Edgewood. Those living are: Mrs. Oren Adams, Henry and Louis Mueller, all of Strawberry Point. There are also 25 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild to mourn her death.

Mrs. Mueller is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Kiebach of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Mary Hoke of Dysart. Two brothers, August and Louis Menge and four sisters preceded her in death.

The departed was baptized in the Lutheran church, which she attended faithfully with her husband. During the last five years she has been served by the Rev. E. L. Stuempfig, who officiated at the burial.

Funeral services were held from the Oren Adams home six miles southeast of Strawberry Point at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. Interment was made at Guttenberg. The following served as pallbearers: Howard DeSotel, Fred Grapes, Worthy Smith, Ed. Halibur, Floyd and Verne Knickerbocker.
