Clayton County Register, 12 Feb. 1941.

Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon, Feb. 08th, for Mrs. Albert Meder, at 1:30 at the late home and at 2:00 in the Frieden's Evangelical church, with burial in the cemetery at Mederville, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating. Casketbearers were: Harry Kramer, Christian Wacker, John Maley, Patrick Hyde, George Ehrhardt and Henry Lenth.

The deceased, Mrs. Albert Meder, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Helgeman, was born January 10th, 1872, at Littleport, Iowa, and died at her home in Elkader, Wednesday afternoon, February 5th, 1941, at the age of 69 years and 25 days.

Mrs. Meder spent her early days in Littleport. There she attended the rural school and grew into womanhood.

In the year 1892, on February 18th, she was united in marriage to Albert Meder of Mederville. Three children were born to this union and mourn their mother's death. They are: Mrs. J. P. Zaph of Littleport; Earl Meder of Guttenberg; and Dr. Lloyd Meder of Elkader.

The young couple spent the first part of their married life on a farm in Cox Creek township, about eight miles south of Elkader. On August 15th, 1917, they came to Elkader and have resided here ever since.

Mrs. Meder was afflicted with pernicious anemia and was confined to her home more or less since 1926. The disease made its slow but deadly inroad and the deceased became steadily weaker. For the last four months she was confined to her bed. She was a patient sufferer through it all.

Mrs. Meder was a member of the Eastern Star, though in late years not active.

She leaves to mourn her death, besides the aforementioned children, her husband, one brother, Edward Helgeman of Rock Island, Ill.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and a large circle of friends.
