Mrs. Catherine Perry Henderson, nee Catherine Reynolds, was born in Rome, N.Y., July 6, 1812, and died at Santa Cruz, Cal., March 29, 1908 at the advanced age of 95 years, 8 months and 23 days.
She was married in New York to Ira Perry, living there a number of years, thence moving west and settling on a farm near Aurora, Ill. They afterward moved to Garnavillo and later, purchased the old "Mission Farm", near Ion, where she resided until after Mr. Perry's death, living with her youngest son, Eugene.
In 1876, she married Mr. Henderson of Rossville, Iowa, after his death she lived with her children, spending the most of her time with Mrs. Brooks, and the last few years with Mrs. White.
She was the mother of eight children four of whom survive her, Mrs. Jane Brooks, of Santa Cruz, Cal.; Mrs. Caroline White, McGregor, Iowa; Eugene Perry, Cromwell, Ia. and Mrs. Clara Persons, Grinnell, Ia.
After enjoying the best of health all winter she passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter Mrs. Brooks, where she and her daughter Caroline had spent the winter. On Saturday before her demise, she became unconscious, dying at 10:30 Sunday night.
She had been a faithful member of the Baptist church, a great many years. Was beloved by all for her genial hospitable disposition.
Besides her children she leaves to mourn her death, one brother, Dr. Benona Reynolds, of Lake Geneva, Wis., thirteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Her remains were brought back to McGregor and she was laid to rest beside her husband, Ira Perry in Oakland cemetery.

Note: Her gravestone in Pleasant Grove cemetery (aka Oakland cemetery) is engraved 1812-1907. The date of this obit has been verified, making the gravestone incorrect.
