St. Olaf: Tena Nelson, 71, died at Finley hospital, Dubuque, Nov. 11, due to a heart condition following an eye operation. She had entered the hospital Nov. 02.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Marion church, with the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating.
Miss Nelson was born May 07, 1877, in Fayette county, the daughter of Berner and Gunild Nelson. She had lived all her life in this vicinity and had been a life-long member of the Marion church. She served as president of the Dorcas society for many years.
With her mother she moved to St. Olaf, Feb. 11, 1944, making her home with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Wold.
Her father, mother, and one brother preceded her in death. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. A. O. Wold and Mrs. Clara Houg, both of St. Olaf; Mrs. Josie Tollefson, of Decorah, and Mrs. Harold Landsgard of Clermont, besides nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were from West Union, Duluth, Minn., Mason City, Decorah, Clermont, Maynard, Monona, Elkader, and Oelwein.
