The death of Mrs. George Fox, 88, occurred Thursday morning at the Clayton county home near Elkader following a short illness.
As Clarissa Graves, she was born April 26, 1860 at Wadena, the daughter of Charles and Mary Graves. She was the last of a family of 13 children.
On January 29, 1877, she was married to George Fox at Albany, Fayette county. They resided at Quimby, Iowa, a number of years before moving to Volga.
Surviving are: one son, David Fox of Oelwein; a foster son, Archis Fox of Volga; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, a grandson, and two great-granddaughters preceded her in death.
Services were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. L. J. Faris, pastor, in charge. Mrs. C. W. Kohls provided piano music during the service.
Casket bearers were John Follon, Frank Phillips, Walter Everitt, Eneas Voshell, Will Goodin and Harry Boleyn. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.
