Funeral services for Miss Mary Thillen, 81, were held at St. Joseph Catholic church, Elkader, at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, Sept. 14. The Rev. B. H. Skahill officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery.
Miss Thillen died at her home in Elkader Sunday, Sept. 12. Death was due to infirmities of old age.
Mary Thillen was born on a farm in Boardman township July 04, 1867, the daughter of Baltazer and Ann Wagner Thillen. She had spent her entire life in Boardman township, moving to Elkader in 1941. She received her education in the school near her home and was a member of St. Joseph church in Elkader.
She is survived by a sister and two brothers: Miss Emma Thillen, Chicago; Fred Thillen, Elkader, and P. J. Thillen, Altadena, Calif.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; Mrs. Susan Greiner, and a sister who died in infancy, also three brothers, Nick, Henry and Pete.
Pallbearers were: Sylvester Thillen, Ed Steffen, Joe Hoover, Art Hoover, Harry Seeland and Harold Breitsprecher.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thillen, Maquoketa; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Maiers and Mrs. Ben M. Moatz, all of Bellevue; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Nachtman, Esther and Art, Manchester; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Greiner, Luxemburg; Mrs. Grace Singsank, Al Thillen, Cail Wagner, Mrs. Thresa Thillen, all of Dyersville; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Greiner, Earlville; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Steffen, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Steffen, Gerome Steffen, Clem Steffen, Andy Steffen, Mrs. B. A. Bistram, Mrs. J. P. Arnsdorf, Frank Arnsdorf, Mrs. Leo Sadler, all of Dubuque; Miss Delores Singsank, Luxemburg, and Pete Wagner, Holy Cross.
