Funeral services for Harvey Johnson, 34, were held at St. Joseph Catholic church, Elkader, at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. The Rev. B. H. Skahill officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery, Elkader.
Mr. Johnson was killed early Wednesday evening, Sept. 08, when his tractor rolled into a ditch crushing him underneath. The accident happened on the hill between Elkader and Littleport.
Harvey Marvin Johnson was born in Volga township Feb. 09, 1914, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Johnson. He received his education in the rural school near his home.
He was united in marriage to Miss Evelyn Leonard at St. Joseph church in Elkader Aug. 26, 1941. They moved to a farm in Cox Creek township which has since been their home. He had also lived in Marion, Wagner, and Farmersburg townships.
He was a member of the St. Joseph church, Elkader.
He is survived by his wife and two children, LaVon Mary, six years old, and Marvin Michael, two years old; also his mother and two brothers, Orville N. T. Johnson, Monona, and Eldo S. Johnson, Elkader. His father preceded him in death Dec. 23, 1944.
Pall bearers were: William Dahling, John Dinan, Robert Dinan, Thomas Kenneally, Orville Frieden and Carl Dahling.
Among the relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Emil Johnson, Clermont; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Leuchtenmacher, Elgin; Mr. and Mrs. John Rupple, Decorah; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Einck, Ossian; Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Adams and Larry, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Falen, Donna and Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Collins and family, and Mrs. Maggie Hall, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Alma Hall, Eillas and Clair, Elkport; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rothmeyer and family, Monona; Mr. and Mrs. George Nydegger, Elgin; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knudson, Mrs. Nick Johnson and sons, Nellie and Edwin Nelson, and Nels Nelson and Neil, St. Olaf and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley McDowell and Frances, Colesburg.
