Funeral services for Mrs. Anna E. Kregel, 81, were held at St. Michael's church, Garber, at 9 o'clock Friday morning. The Rev. Father L. J. Holmberg officiated at the requiem high mass. He was assisted by the Rev. Father F. J. Phelan. Burial was in St. Michael's cemetery at Elkport. Mrs. Kregel died at her home in Garber Tuesday, Aug. 24. She had been an invalid and confined to a wheel chair for forty years. She suffered a stroke three weeks ago, from which she never recovered.
Anna Eliza Miller was born at Wilkes Barre, Pa., Sept. 17, 1866, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Miller. In 1875 she came with her parents to Clayton county and settled in Jefferson township about 11 miles from Guttenberg.
On Sept. 11, 1888, at Guttenberg, she was married to John F. Kregel, who preceded her in death in 1939.
She is survived by five sons and one daughter: namely, John H. Kregel, Guttenberg; Raymond F. Kregel, Garber; Joseph J. Kregel, Kit Carson, Colo,; Edward A. Kregel, Garnavillo; Greg W. Kregel, West Union; and Miss Laura M. Kregel, Garber. One brother Charles A. Miller, Guttenberg, and ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Preceding her in death besides her husband were a daughter, Mrs. James Phelan, who died in 1928, and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were six nephews: Leo Miller, Alphonse Miller, Edward Miller, Andrew Elsinger, Arnold Hess, and Henry Schlueter.
