Funeral services for Fred Christian Seeman of Clayton Center, who died at the McGregor hospital Tuesday morning, Aug. 24, were held this (Thursday) afternoon from the Witt chapel and the Lutheran church, Clayton Center, with the Rev. J. H. Zerhusen officiating.
Fred Christian Seeman was born at Garland, Neb., Oct. 24, 1889. the son of Reinold F. Seeman and his wife Anna Seeman, nee Seifert. The family lived in Nebraska for several years, then moved to San Antonio, Texas, where they lived until Fred was five years of age. They then came to Clayton Center to make their home with his grandparents, the late Rev. and Mrs. F. W. Seifert.
Here at Clayton Center the deceased attended the rural school and graduated from the Elkader high school with the class of 1911. After graduation from high school he attended the state university at Iowa City for a number of years to prepare himself for the teaching profession. He taught for many years in the schools of Clayton county. Of late years he assisted with farm work for the people of the community.
His father and mother preceded him in death.
He is survived by three uncles and two aunts: Fred and Otto Seifert, Clayton Center; Ernest F. Seifert, Elkader; Mrs. Katie Buchheim, Clayton Center, and Mrs. Lenora Glawe, Farmersburg.
Burial was in the family lot at Clayton Center.
