Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Olson, 90, a pioneer resident of Clayton County, were held at the Norway Lutheran church, the Rev. Strandjord officiating. Burial was in the Norway Lutheran cemetery.
Mrs. Olson died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 19, 1948, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leona Fairley, following a lingering illness.
Emma Caroline Olson, the daughter of Andreau and Sonnev Olson, was born at Fulton, Ill., Sept. 13, 1857, and moved with her parents to Clayton County when a small child. When she was three years old her mother died and she made her home with the J. C. Peterson family in the immediate vicinity. She attended school near her home and was confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church.
She was united in marriage to Gilbert Anderson of Decorah, May 18, 1887. To this union wee born four children: Mrs. Alice Larson, Douglas, N.Dak.; Mrs. Nellie Backkadahl, who preceded her in death several ears ago and also a son Alvin who died at the age of 15 ears, and Mrs. Leona Fairley of Mechanicsville. There are also six grandchildren, great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, besides a niece and two nephews.
Pallbearers were: Leonard Olson, Knut Olson, Leslie Halvorson, Roy Walter, Theodor Wold and Lorrie Kirkorden.
