Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Schumacher, who died at her home in Garnavillo Friday afternoon, May 14, were held from the Dickman funeral home to St. Paul's Lutheran church Monday afternoon. Services were conducted by the Rev. Alexander Meyer. Burial was made in the Garnavillo cemetery.
Mrs. Schumacher was born March 06, 1885, a daughter of Frederic Roebken and the former Margaret Schumacher. She received her education in the Garnavillo public school and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. June 15, 1909, she was married to Realto O. Schumacher and in 1910 they founded the Garnavillo Tribune, which they published together for 25 years until Mrs. Schumacher became ill in 1935. She was unable to walk for 13 years and in the last three years her condition gradually became worse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Jan. 29, 1945, and her parents. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Margery Klocker and Winifred, Garnavillo; one sister, Mrs. Adelia Matt, Paru, Ind.; two brothers, Orville Roebken of Zearing, Iowa, and Abner Roebken of Postville; one granddaughter, Margaret Mary Klocker.
