Funeral services for Mrs. Erma Staake were held from the Muehlethaler funeral home at Elgin at one o'clock Monday afternoon, May 17, to the Marion Lutheran church, at 2 o'clock conducted by Dr. S. J. StrandJord. Burial was in the Marion cemetery at Gunder.

Erma Elizabeth Butikofer, daughter of Samuel and Ida Butikofer, was born on a farm near Elgin, on April 29, 1924, and died at the Postville hospital May 13 at the age of 24 years.

She received her education in the rural school near her home and was graduated from Elgin high school in 1941. She then received her business training at A. I. B. in Des Moines. She was employed as a secretary at the State Finance Co., Des Moines.

She was married to Lester Staake, St. Olaf on October 22, 1947.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Lester Staake, one brother, Lester Butikofer, near Elgin, and three sisters, Marie (Mrs. Lester Marti), Bern, Kans, Gladys (Mrs. Loran Harris), Des Moines, and Hazel (Mrs. Leo Olson), Elkader.

Pallbearers were Louis, John Jr., Bennie, Silas, Elmer, and Dan Jr. Butikofer.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Loran Harris of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Marti, Will and Mary Ann Marti, and Mrs. Paul Grimm, Bern, Kans., Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hinderman and Lloyd, Fairfax, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Dee Owens of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Geiser, Shelburn, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Earnie Eaton, Austin, Minn.
