Funeral services for Mrs. Augusta Fascher, 75, were held from the home in Boardman township at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon, May 07, to the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at two o'clock. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.
Mrs. Fascher died at her home in Boardman township Tuesday, May 04, following an illness of three months. The past several weeks she was confined to her bed.
Augusta Wilhelmina Missun was born in Germany, Sept. 11, 1873, the daughter of Michael and Wilhelmina Missun. She received her education in Germany and came to this country in 1891. She lived in Garnavillo and Clayton Center.
On Feb. 13, 1896, she was married to Henry Paul Fascher by the Rev. Sommerland at the home of Mr. Fascher's sister, Mrs. Lottie Tielbar, near Garnavillo. In 1910 they moved to a farm in Boardman township, which has since been their home. Mr. and Mrs. Fascher celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Feb. 14, 1946, with all their children present.
She was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church and the Women's Guild of the church.
She is survived by one daughter and four sons, Mrs. Richard (Meta) Goetsch, Chamberlin, S.D., Herman of near Elkader, Rudolph and Edwin on the home farm, and Arthur of Harlan; one brother and two sisters, George Henning, Keneston, Sask., Canada, Mrs. Lena Bank, McGregor, and Mrs. Wilhelmina Rottmer, Germany; also six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1946, and a daughter Ella, who died at the age of two and one-half years.
Pallbearers were: Milton Klink, George Kuehl, Fred Kuehl, Joe Winkler, Pete Westby, and Harold Dohrer.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fascher and family Harlan; Geo. Henning, Keneston, Sask., Canada; Mrs. Richard Goetsch, Chamberlain, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sanger and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Wilkenson, all of Dubuque; Mrs. Lena Bank and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Goltz, McGregor.
