Nading, Flouris 1884 - 1947

LITTLEPORT: Flouris Nading, mayor of Littleport, died in his home on Christmas eve at 8:45 o'clock after a lingering illness of more than a year. He was cared for by his wife and two daughters who were constantly by his bedside since he had a second stroke two months ago.

Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial was in Union cemetery at Littleport.

Funeral services for Flouris Nading, 63, were held at the home in Littleport, Dec. 27 at two o'clock. The Rev. Paul Kitterer, pastor of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church in Elkader, officiated. Burial was in the Union cemetery near Littleport.

Mr. Nading died at his home in Littleport, Dec. 24, 1947. He suffered a stroke in October 1946 and was confined to a wheel chair. Another stroke followed in October of this year, following which he was confined to his bed until his death.

Flouris Nading was born in Minnesota, April 14, 1884, the son of William and Corinthia (Metcalf) Nading. He came to Clayton county with his parents when an infant and spent the remainder of his life in or around Littleport. He received his education in the rural schools.

On June 02, 1906, he was married to Miss Hattie Miles of near Edgewood. For a number of years he engaged in farming. For the past 20 years they have lived in Littleport where for a number of years he was engaged in buying cattle.

He is survived by his wife and three children: Irvin Nading of Glendo, Wyo., Mrs. Beatrice Kill, and Mrs. Doris Dahling, both of Littleport; two brothers, Forrest Nading, of Littleport, and John Nading, Edgewood; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Bushaw, Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Ruby Stone, Cedar Rapids; also seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son who died in infancy.

Pallbearers were Harold Liddy, Earl Pust, Elmer Ashline, John Leonard, Jr., William Klieh and George Chappel.
