Funeral services for Richard West, 69, were held at the Witt funeral chapel Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 24, at 1:30 o'clock, the Rev. Herbert G. Kelly, pastor of the Congregational Christian church of Elkader officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Richard West was born March 13, 1878 in Highland township, the son of William and Elizabeth West, and died at Elkader, Sunday, Dec. 21, 1947. He had been ill about two months. Death was due to the infirmities of old age.

He received his education in the rural schools following which he farmed. He was married to Esther Welch at Cable, Wis. One daughter, Elizabeth, was born to them. Besides living in Wisconsin he had lived in Marion township. He came to Elkader in 1927.

He is survived by five sisters and two brothers: namely, Mrs. Bob Schuld, Minneapolis; Mrs. John Boland, Amber, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Boland, Glen Ellen, Mrs. Mary Cook, Elgin, Iowa, Mrs. Charlotte Feller, Elkader, Ab West, Elgin, and Eddie West, Elkader.

Pallbearers were Merlin Cook, Alfred Cook, Francis West, Earl West, Dwain Feller and Robert West.
