Laura M. Roehlk, 87, died peacefully at her home Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, in Fitchburg, Wis.

A gravesite memorial service will be held sometime next spring in Elkader.

She was born November 27, 1921, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Fern and Jesse Sharp. She grew up in Elkader, and she graduated from Coe College with a B.A. in economics.

She enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII. She spent most of her adult life in Cedar Rapids, working for Rockwell-Collins as an industrial engineer.

She is survived by her two children, Richard Roehlk and Susan Roehlk (John Hayward); one grandson, Sam Bolton; three step-grandchildren, Stacey Zudock (Jeff Zudock), Jeff Hayward (Melanie Hayward) and Jill Hayward (Jayson Preston); and four great step-children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roehlk.
