Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon in the Arthur Gull home in Colesburg for Mrs. Rebecca Bowman, 96, an early resident of this vicinity, who died October 22. The Rev. Floyd R. Maynard directed the services in the Brown cemetery. Pall-bearers were Mrs. Bowman's three grandsons: James Zearley, Robert Gull, and Ralph Gull; and three great-grandsons: Ralph, Lowell and Donald Zearley.

Mrs. Bowman, the daughter of Phillip and Catherine Hansel, was born in a pioneer cabin three and a half miles north of Colesburg in 1850. In 1871 she was united in marriage with James Bowman. They lived for a few years on a farm near Osterdock and then bought a farm four miles north of Colesburg where they made their home. Three children were born to them: Alta, who became Mrs. Lewis A. Zearley of Garber; Margaret, who became Mrs. John Schwiekert of Garber and Alva, who became Mrs. Arthur Gull of Colesburg. Since her husband's death in 1937, Mrs. Bowman lived for a time in the old farm home and then with her two daughters in Garber and Colesburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Margaret, Besides her two daughters, she is survived by five grandchildren, thirteen great- grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Connie Hammond of Clear Lae, Wis.
