Mr. John Peters*, an old and respected resident of Lodomillo township, died at his home yesterday Feb. 4th, at the age of 56 years*.
Mr. Peters was stricken with paralysis two years since and has been in ill health since and undergone much suffering.
An obituary will appear hereafter.

At his residence in this township, about three miles from Edgewood, on Wednesday, February 4th, occurred the death of John Peters*, aged 62 years*.
Mr. Peters was one of the early settlers here, and was quite generally known in this vicinity, and was respected by all who knew him. He had been suffering for a long time from inflammatory rheumatism, and had been confined to the house most of the time for the past year.
He leaves a wife and seven children, to mourn the loss of a kind husband and loving father.
The funeral occurred on Friday the 6th, Rev. Bixby officiating.

- Surname on his gravestone in Strawberry Point cemetery and 1880 census is spelled PETER
- He was a Civil War soldier serving in Co. K, 1st IA Cav.
- 1880 U.S. Census gives his age as 52 years
