Funeral services for Embert B. Bergan, 65, who died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in St. Olaf, Monday, Aug. 26, were held at the Witt funeral chapel in Elkader at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon and at the Norway Lutheran church at 2. Dr. S. J. Strandjord officiated. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Embert B. Bergan was born in Marion township Nov. 27, 1880, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Bergan. He received his education in the schools of Clayton county.
In February, 1919, he was united in marriage to Miss Rose Knutson who preceded him in death in 1918. Mr. Bergan, a shoe repairer by trade, lived in Benedict, N. Dak., for a time, moving to St. Olaf in 1944.
He is survived by one son Harry of St. Olaf; three brothers, Martin Bergan of Farmersburg; Willie of Gunder, and Charlie of Guttenberg; one sister, Mrs. Isabel Thorsgaard of St. Olaf.
Pallbearers were: Alvin Olson, Orvan Embretson, Burnell Stops, Harry Herrick, Harvey Walker and Philmon Embretson.
